Stock Tanks Canada supplies products made by Hastings Equity Manufacturing and other manufacturers. Many products include a manufacturer’s limited warranty against qualifying defects.
Warranty coverage, duration, exclusions, claim requirements, and remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer’s written warranty. This page provides a general summary and does not replace the manufacturer’s official warranty terms.
Nothing on this page limits a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Canadian law.
Hastings Equity Manufacturing
Hastings Equity Manufacturing is the primary manufacturer of the galvanized steel and polyethylene stock tanks sold by Stock Tanks Canada.
Hastings publishes the following warranty periods for its stock tanks:
Black Label Galvanized Steel Stock Tanks
Manufacturer’s published warranty: 5 years
Hastings Black Label stock tanks are manufactured from 20-gauge G90 galvanized steel. Hastings describes these tanks as carrying an industry-leading five-year warranty.
The warranty applies to the eligible Black Label tank identified on the original purchase record. Warranty coverage remains subject to Hastings’ official terms and its assessment of the claim.
Green Label Galvanized Steel Stock Tanks
Manufacturer’s published warranty: 1 year
Hastings Green Label stock tanks have 22-gauge galvanized steel sidewalls and 20-gauge galvanized steel bottoms. Hastings describes these value-oriented tanks as carrying a one-year warranty.
The warranty applies to the eligible Green Label tank identified on the original purchase record and remains subject to Hastings’ official terms and claim assessment.
Hastings Poly Stock Tanks
Manufacturer’s published warranty: 3 years on materials and workmanship
Hastings polyethylene stock tanks are manufactured from high-density virgin polyethylene. Hastings states that its poly stock tanks include a three-year warranty covering materials and workmanship.
The warranty applies to the eligible poly tank identified on the original purchase record and remains subject to Hastings’ official terms and claim assessment.
Warranty Summary
| Hastings product | Manufacturer’s published warranty |
|---|---|
| Black Label 20-gauge galvanized steel stock tanks | 5 years |
| Green Label 22-gauge galvanized steel stock tanks | 1 year |
| Polyethylene stock tanks | 3 years on materials and workmanship |
The model, product label, product description, and original purchase documents determine which warranty applies. Please contact Stock Tanks Canada if you are unsure whether your tank is a Black Label, Green Label, or polyethylene model.
Other Hastings Products
Hastings manufactures other products, including bottomless tanks, feeders, gates, panels, storage tanks, fittings, and accessories.
Warranty coverage for these products may differ from the stock-tank warranties summarized above. If Hastings does not publish a general warranty period for a particular product, coverage will be determined by the written warranty or product information applicable to that specific model.
Contact Stock Tanks Canada before purchasing if warranty coverage for a particular product is important to your decision.
What May Qualify as a Warranty Claim
A warranty claim generally concerns a defect in the product’s materials or manufacturing that becomes apparent during the applicable warranty period.
Submitting a claim does not guarantee warranty approval. The manufacturer may need to determine:
- Whether the product is within its warranty period;
- Whether the reported condition results from a defect in materials or workmanship;
- Whether the product was properly installed, supported, maintained, and used;
- Whether the product has been altered or repaired;
- Whether environmental conditions or external damage caused the problem; and
- Which remedy, if any, is available under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Normal characteristics of galvanized steel—such as variations in colour, spangle, texture, or surface appearance—are not necessarily manufacturing defects.
Conditions That May Affect Warranty Coverage
Warranty coverage may be denied or limited when damage results from circumstances outside the manufacturer’s warranty. Depending on the product and the manufacturer’s official terms, this may include:
- Improper installation or inadequate support;
- Failure to install or use the product according to manufacturer instructions;
- Misuse, abuse, impact, puncture, crushing, or livestock damage;
- Freezing or expansion of water or other contents;
- Improper plumbing, fittings, drainage, or connections;
- Exposure to incompatible chemicals or corrosive substances;
- Unauthorized drilling, cutting, welding, coating, lining, painting, repair, or modification;
- Moving or transporting the product after installation;
- Damage during customer pickup or customer-arranged transportation;
- Normal wear, weathering, corrosion, fading, or cosmetic aging;
- Fire, flooding, severe weather, falling objects, or other external events; or
- Use for an application for which the product was not designed or approved.
The manufacturer’s official warranty and its assessment of the individual product determine whether a claim qualifies.
Pools, Cold Plunges, Planters, and Other Alternative Uses
Hastings stock tanks are manufactured primarily as agricultural products. Customers sometimes use them for pools, cold plunges, aquaculture, gardens, planters, landscaping, food or beverage service, and other alternative applications.
An alternative use is not automatically covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Modifying a tank or using it in a manner inconsistent with its design, instructions, material limitations, or applicable safety requirements may affect warranty eligibility.
Before using or modifying a stock tank for an alternative purpose, you are responsible for confirming:
- That the product is suitable for the intended application;
- That the tank will have adequate, level, and continuous support;
- That all fittings, coatings, chemicals, and water-treatment products are compatible;
- That applicable electrical, plumbing, building, health, fencing, and safety requirements are followed; and
- Whether the intended use or modification affects the manufacturer’s warranty.
Scratch & Dent and Clearance Products
Scratch & Dent and clearance products may have cosmetic damage, dents, scratches, discolouration, surface imperfections, packaging damage, or other conditions disclosed before purchase.
A condition disclosed before purchase is not an undisclosed manufacturing defect and is not covered merely because it affects the product’s appearance.
If a Scratch & Dent or clearance product includes manufacturer warranty coverage, that coverage applies only according to the manufacturer’s official terms and does not cover the condition disclosed at the time of sale.
The product description, photographs, invoice, and other written disclosures form part of the condition record for the product.
Shipping Damage Is Not a Warranty Claim
Damage occurring during shipping, delivery, unloading, customer pickup, or transportation is different from a manufacturing defect.
Inspect your order promptly upon delivery or pickup. If a product is damaged, incorrect, or missing:
- Keep the product and any packaging;
- Take clear photographs of the product, packaging, damage, and delivery condition;
- Record visible damage on the delivery receipt or carrier documentation, where practical;
- Keep your receipt and other supporting documents; and
- Contact Stock Tanks Canada promptly.
Please refer to our Shipping & Delivery Policy for complete receiving and damage-reporting instructions.

What Happens After You Submit a Claim
Stock Tanks Canada will review the information supplied and may request additional photographs, documents, measurements, or product details.
When manufacturer review is required, we may provide the relevant claim information to Hastings Equity Manufacturing or the applicable manufacturer. The manufacturer may require additional evidence or inspection before making a decision.
Do not repair, modify, return, move, or dispose of the product unless instructed. Doing so may prevent the manufacturer from properly assessing the reported condition and may affect warranty eligibility.
The manufacturer determines whether a claim is approved and what remedy is available under its warranty. Depending on the official warranty and the circumstances, a remedy may involve repair, replacement, replacement components, credit, or another resolution selected or approved by the manufacturer.
Stock Tanks Canada does not guarantee approval or promise a particular remedy before the manufacturer’s assessment is complete.
Transportation, Labour, and Other Costs
A manufacturer’s product warranty does not automatically include every cost associated with a claim.
Unless the manufacturer’s official warranty, Stock Tanks Canada, or applicable law provides otherwise, warranty coverage may not include:
- Shipping or return transportation;
- Delivery of a replacement product;
- Removal or reinstallation;
- Plumbing, electrical, excavation, or site work;
- Water removal or replacement;
- Equipment rental;
- Contractor or labour charges;
- Loss of use;
- Lost income or production; or
- Other incidental or consequential expenses.
We will explain the available resolution and any known customer responsibility before arranging an approved return, repair, or replacement.
Do Not Return Products Without Authorization
All warranty returns require prior authorization.
Do not ship, deliver, or bring a product back to Stock Tanks Canada or the manufacturer until you have received return instructions. Unauthorized returns may be refused and may result in additional transportation, handling, or storage costs.
