Replace a missing, worn, or damaged drain plug with our 3/4-inch zinc-plated replacement plug. It includes a new rubber seal and fits the standard drain fitting used in most Hastings galvanized and poly stock tanks.

This plug does not fit the Hastings 11-foot stock tank, which uses a complete two-piece plug-and-flange assembly. Confirm your tank model before ordering.

Genuine Hastings Replacement Stock Tank Plug

A missing, damaged, or badly worn drain plug can prevent a stock tank from holding water properly. This genuine Hastings replacement provides the correct 3/4-inch zinc-plated plug for the standard drain opening installed in most Hastings stock tanks.

It is a small but essential replacement part that restores the tank’s drain opening without requiring the entire drain assembly to be replaced when the existing assembly remains serviceable.

Product Details

  • SKU: 2131
  • Nominal size: 3/4 inch
  • Material/finish: Zinc-plated steel
  • Application: Replacement stock-tank drain plug
  • Compatibility: Standard Hastings galvanized and poly stock tanks
  • Important exception: Not compatible with the Hastings 11-foot stock tank

When to Replace the Plug

Consider replacing the plug when:

  • The original plug is missing;
  • The plug is bent, damaged, or heavily corroded;
  • The threads are worn or damaged;
  • The plug can no longer be securely installed; or
  • The plug itself is contributing to leakage.

A new plug will not correct a cracked tank, damaged drain opening, deteriorated seal, or defective drain assembly.

Removal and Installation

A standard 3/8" ratchet fits neatly in between the tabs of the plug and easily removes it. Drain the tank completely, then inspect the existing drain fitting for damage or debris before installing the new plug.

For best results:

  1. Remove dirt, mineral deposits, rust, and other debris from the drain opening.
  2. Inspect the threads and surrounding drain components for damage.
  3. Align the replacement plug carefully with the drain opening.
  4. Start threading it by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  5. Tighten it only enough to create a secure seal.
  6. Add a small amount of water and inspect the connection for leakage before refilling the tank.

Do not force, cross-thread, or overtighten the plug. Excessive force may damage the plug or the tank’s drain fitting.

If the Tank Still Leaks

If water continues to escape after installing the replacement plug, inspect the complete drain area. The cause may be:

  • A damaged or contaminated sealing surface;
  • Worn or damaged threads;
  • A loose drain fitting;
  • A deteriorated gasket or seal;
  • Damage around the tank opening; or
  • An incorrectly sized or incompatible replacement part.

Correct the source of the leak before returning the tank to regular use.

Need Help Confirming the Correct Plug?

If you are uncertain about compatibility, contact Stock Tanks Canada before ordering. Provide the tank manufacturer, model or size, material, and clear photographs of the existing drain opening and plug.

The Hastings 11-foot stock tank requires a complete two-piece plug-and-flange assembly, such as Model 2152 or S-200, rather than Model 2131.
